'Disadvantaged' get easier entry
"University places will be offered to "disadvantaged" pupils with examination grades lower than minimum course requirements under a new national scheme according to the Telegraph."
Good God! My Evil Daughter's been disadvantaged! I've withdrawn all her privileges for badness! So has the school (very good comprehensive ex-grammar school) which has refused (quite rightly) to have her back for the Upper Sixth and if any University in it's right mind admits her after that I may have to make a unilateral tax strike in protest! I fear though such disadvantage is not what they mean.
Now if the current chav that she's dating were to father a baby on her all might be different - at Leeds Uni anyway... But I fail to see why the hell that should beget her any kind of special treament!
How can I have spawned a son who was Head of House, got straight A's, went to King's to read Philosophy and think, and then HER?! Spoilt or what? Aaaaaaaaghhh!

The answer lies behind the comments in your last paragraph, gavin. As she has so much to live up to, she probably thinks it isn't even worth trying. Just a thought.
Yeah I was cuel and heartless to him. Spoilt her rotten!
Well there you go gavin! Why try when daddy loves you anyway?
You can see which way this is going, can't you? Whatever you say, said, do, did, it's all your fault 'cos they fuck you up yer mom and dad, so they do!
It's actually not uncommon for the first child to be far and away the best at everything and be more intelligent...it IS, honest....and I'm not blowing my own trumpet (although I have tried to blow my own horn) because I was a third child (or maybe I was teh first of some lover of my mother...gulp..not really.
Anyway Gav, your girlie has other attributes with which to succeed...
runs away
very quickly...
I'm in Brazil, you can't get me....
looks over shoulder...
Who knows why Gavin, the mystery and the agony of parenthood.
Mags could be right re not wanting to compete with big brother (for fear of failure?)
I tried my damnedest to impress my parents and get good grades as a path for my younger brother. I was sportier than him and whipped him all over the park at pretty much everything other than football, which God just didn't give me any talent for.
Academically however he just sailed, straight A's, double first in Maths and French from UMIST. A combination of brilliance and utter determintation that I couldn't match if I had stuck my head in a book for 18 hours a day throughout my academic career. On top of all that he's the nicest lad you'll ever meet. Git.
As long as she's happy- Take a contract out on the chav
So you are the eldest Six. I have been wondering which you were but could not quite decide.
Gavin, sweetie. Span has been really truly kind and taken off the letter thingy cos it drives me nuts.
Pretty please?
Only for you Lucy!
This one's quite a sweet little chav I suppose...at least he's employed, he's an 18 year old welder (well he told her steel fabricator)...
The sad thing is she's just as clever as her brother but she's being chucked out of this school with a respectable (but not remarkable) string of GCSEs and an AS in Drama - that's all - because she withdrew herself from Business Studies, her teachers withdrew her from English Language and hopefully she'll scrape the require C in the Maths retake. But it's not much is it?
She's got an appointment with the Connexions people so hopefully we can get her in somewhere else to start over on the Lower Sixth...but will she knuckle down?
It's very worrying. (Span you are being particularly unhelpful with the unforunate truth in your words).
And you Mags are heartless but probably right....
Oh misery!
Sorry Six I didn't name check you but the paragraph with the comparison to her brother was yours.
Oh and Kats, para 2 was to you.
Modded again Gavin, S****y is highly offensive [?!], accidentaly I presume as I meant sticky, which I thought was a bit tacky given the subject.
So many thanks for the favour here, At least someone loves me...
oops
oops?
Has Gavin been rude again?
Gavin, is that Kings Cambridge you mention in relation to your son?
Or king's Cross (London)?...:-)
King's College London Lucy (and Span as you know full well!) The philosophy library there is the one referred to in the Da Vinci Code. Oxford Cambridge and KCL all think they are the best in the world for philosophy. Who cares? But it's a damn good school!
Hehehe..yes Gav...I know, and you know I know, and I know you know I know... :-)
...and my dad went there!
I am sorry to hear about the daughter and school Gavin. She can still come through well though once she has got a good bit of rebellion done and dusted. Let her know how much you care 'whatever' .
Best regards from NY!
