Did I just hear that right?

Sainsbury's has offered a five thousand pound reward to catch the man who raped an 11 year old girl in their store.

Five thousand? I was waiting for the hundred. As in FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND.

If a child is raped on my premises whether at my home or at my business, should I not be a bit more anxious to apprehend the culprit than 5 thousand quid's worth?

Having worked on the Sainsbury financial accounts at one time the paltry figure of the reward is not at all suprising to me. The reward has now been increased to 30K but I think it is other businesses on the same retail park that have increased the sum rather than Sainsbury's.

Why do people need money incentives? Isn't it reward enough to know that you helped catch this animal?

Well it would be for me Finn but others need a little encouragement and rewards for catching criminals have been part of the deal for a long time now.

This is just the most appalling crime, and the original 5 grand offer hardly matched it's gravity, nor the very real need to find whoever the hell this freak is.

Presumably it's just the actual store that offered the 5K and not 'national' Sainsbury's; it is a horrible case though that will have shopping mums worried.

I imagine they must have some CCTV coverage from the maggot either entering/ leaving the store or elsewhere in the shopping centre/ retail park.

I find it incredible and if I was 'on the case' would look closely at males that know the family: somehow an attack like this by a complete stranger doesn't add up....unless he was drugged up.

I'm surprised just how little coverage this has received. Are we becoming desensitised to outrage?

Gavin...have you 'lost the fire' or just lost the online time! (kids revising etc...knowing that books aren't involved these days!)
