The real thing isn't so funny.

Please don't hit the play button unless you understand that you will see the actual execution.

I can't believe that it's just the poor quality of the video that makes this so medieval - it's like something from the Inquisition...

The person who filmed this has been arrested. Horrible.

It is the real thing Paul. Complete with the drop and choking face... Grim but not surprising.

Gavin, I watched it through my fingers, with the sound turned down.I thought the prisoner was only supposed to stand there a second before they opened the trap door , not ages.
As someone else said, it was a lynch mob.

Bit of an own goal PR-wise really curmy.

Sorry. I did say it was gruesome. I hope I posted it because I thought it should be seen.

Funnily enough I have a copy of a publication called 'Images of the Arab Ba'ath Socialist Party, which depicts Comrade Michel Aflaq, the Founding Leader and the Secretary General. And overleaf Comrade Ahmad Hassan al-Bakr, Deputy General Secretary and President of the Republic pictured with Comrade Saddam Hussein The assistant Secretary General, Vice Chairman of the Revolutionary Command Council.

It all started so well.

I must post about it.

To be honest it is the best publicity anyone could ever give to those who campaign for the abolition of the death penalty wherever it exists. I am glad that I oppose death as a punishment even for evil bastards such as Saddam. Life is a far worse punishment.

Funnily enough I found it oddly unemotional. Mind you I can't get the sound to work.
