Police halt 'anti-social' hopscotch game

TWO teenage girls have been targeted by police - for playing hopscotch in their Midland street, reports the Birmingham Mail.

Officers swooped on Kayleigh Mangan and Georgina Smallwood, both 14, claiming they were behaving in an "anti-social" manner by playing the childhood game.

The community support officers also ticked the girls off for chalking too many hopscotch grids on the pavement in Spring Street in Halesowen.

The action by the bobbies was today defended by West Midlands Police, who said the girls were committing "low-level crime".

Of course they were! Clearly this pair should have been unlawfully, riotously and tumultuously assembled together with a dozen like minded chums for the consumption of vodka until 2am, like any other 14 year old in Britain today. Hopscotch! I ask you whatever next!

As their parents, if the council proposed to keep this complaint of 'low-level crime' on file in any way, I would fight it to the last.

What a load of boolicks!

If exactly as reported I can think of a lot worse things these girls could be doing and at 14 to be playing Hopscotch makes a change.

I thought a lot of the games played from childhood as I remember were no longer known or played.

And at this rate perhaps it will not be long until they are lost forever.

I don't know the area so have to take the story as reported. And its daft.

If someone was kicking a football against someone's wall, or threatening residents or deliberately damaging property that to me is something to worried about.

Usually, chalk will soon fade or be washed away when you get a good down pour.

Of course they ignored their friends who were getting drunk and having underage sex in the park whilst their other mates, nicely beating up old ladies, were left alone.

Jeez! This sort of thing drives me nuts!

Hopscotch is an example of subversive infiltration from the new soviet style right. It should be stamped upon on sight. The perpetrators should be sent to re-education camps but should their faulty genes be at risk at being passed down to future generations, then enforced sterilisation should take place. If boys are found particpating in the subversive activity then they should automatically be sent for castration.

Hopscotch should be banned immediately.

They'll be using bondage ropes for skipping next.

The police love the easy stuff and seem to have a tendency to avoid the tougher criminal activities in my experience (which Mags will testify is broad). I suggest we all get together in Traflagar Square in two Sundays time for a Hop Off. Bring a placard. Mine will say "Behead All Smelly Boys, yuck!" See you there!

Is there no end to the depths of stupidity to which our police will not now stoop?

Worse still, after a child's game has been labelled 'low-level crime' (God help us), we have to listen to senior officers attempting to justify this ludicrous stance.

Can I presume that the next time they are caught performing these anti-social 'low-level' crimes, the two criminals in question will be handed £80.00 fixed penalty tickets?

Don't bet against it.
